November is already upon us, so I thought I would start this Thanksgiving season off with some of the great things that we are thankful for in the Barnes' household.
Tammy is doing so much better. The last stay in the hospital did reveal that the nodules in her lungs was because of food that had aspirated into her lungs resulting in pneumonia. So, she just has to be more careful with how much she eats before she goes to sleep. Such a little thing to prevent such a scary thing! So for that we are thankful.
Also, that pneumonia did not trigger any additional rejection. That is a praise as well. It has been 5 months without any significant rejection to this set of lungs. We celebrate that as well.
Stamina is the next thing we are working on. She was sent home with oxygen for when she was doing more strenuous activities like climbing stairs and walking for a long distance. But her speed is picking up and she is walking on the treadmill, shopping, and going somewhere every day. In other words, she is really getting back to normal. God is so good.
After stamina, our goal is work. She is going stir crazy around here and is ready to be productive again. Pray that soon, very soon, she can get back to work. So... is this a thankful thing? You bet it is! I love that she is ready to go back to work, to make a difference, and to be with those people who have made such a difference in her life. So, yes, very thankful.
We are thankful that God has kept His promises. He promised me over 20 months ago that I would certainly see "the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living." I have clung to those verses in Psalm 27 during the thick and thin, the optimistic seasons and the uncomfortable seasons. And He, who is faithful always, has kept His word to us. I believe He is going to continue to restore her health. I believe He is so not finished with Tammy's Story. I believe He is who He says He is and He will do what He says He will do.
And I am thankful.
